I have been introduced to Korean Rock and Soul music from the 60's and 70's from a friend named Han. We were talking about music the other day and I was saying how I wished I could get my hands on some old school Korean music to play at the shop. I didn't believe it, Han said he had many Korean old school artists at home on vinyl...so now I'm hooked!
The Devils
The funniest part of this is that I know some of these songs. I have heard Korean rock and soul music. My mom use to sing these songs all the time when I was growing up but I never thought it was rock and soul. It used to play in the background the way people grew up listening to the classics of James Brown and Aretha Franklin.

The Pearl Sisters
I guess I just kept Korean music as a seperate entity in my mind, I never linked my Korean culture to this part of American culture. I never thought about the music, I just never....So I want to share these artists and memories.
I hope that you enjoy this clip of The Pearl Sisters. They were rocking and it tickles me inside when I see and hear them because I'm so proud.
Here is a link to a recent NY Times article on the Godfather of South Korean rock his name is Shin Jung Hyun. (THANKS ELLEN FOR THE LINK)
If you put a blindfold on me and spin me around in a circle...I bet I could find something vintage. Here you will read about things that interest me...fashion, nail polish and Korean culture, just to name a few... Are you curious?
